The first-ever OOC Scientific and Research Pre-Conference Symposium took place from 14-15 June ahead of OOC11, creating a dedicated platform for researchers, innovators, and knowledge holders to share scientific insights that can drive stronger ocean action.
The symposium focused on advancing marine research, strengthening collaboration across regions, and expanding access to ocean data, technology, and evidence-based solutions. It placed a spotlight on scientific innovation and solutions from Africa and the Western Indian Ocean and supported the integration of science into decision-making throughout the conference.
