The first-ever OOC Research Symposium will also take place at OOC11, creating a dedicated platform for researchers, innovators, and knowledge holders to share scientific insights that can drive stronger ocean action.

The symposium will focus on advancing marine research, strengthening collaboration across regions, and expanding access to ocean data, technology, and evidence-based solutions. It will highlight scientific innovation from Africa and the Western Indian Ocean and support the integration of science into decision-making throughout the conference.
