Are there any health requirements I need to be aware of before travelling to Mombasa?
The Ministry of Health, Kenya, has issued a health advisory for all delegates attending OOC11. Delegates are strongly encouraged to review the advisory before travel and ensure they are adequately prepared before departure.
We continue to monitor guidance from the Government of Kenya, WHO, and relevant health authorities. Kenya has robust preparedness measures in place, and we will keep Our Ocean Conference participants informed of any developments via email.

How can I attend the Our Ocean Conference?
The Our Ocean Conference is a limited, high-level, invitation-only event. It includes national and subnational governments, intergovernmental organizations, the private sector, not-for-profit organizations, philanthropy, academia, and more. All invitations are issued at the discretion of the host, the government of Kenya.
Invitations have been transmitted to governments via diplomatic channels and non-government organizations via email.

Can my organization request an invitation to the Our Ocean Conference?
No new invitation requests will be considered beyond 10 April 2026. We thank organizations for their interest in the 11th Our Ocean Conference.
Organizations interested in attending the conference that have not received an invitation may submit a written request via email to ooc11.kenyansecretariat@blueeconomy.go.ke and OOCSecretariat@wri.org.
Requests should include:
- A justification of the organization's ongoing work in alignment with the objectives of the conference.
- Commitments that the organization plans to announce at the conference.
- Substantive engagements planned for the conference, such as a proposed or confirmed side event.
- The name, title, and email for the point of contact to whom the invitation should be directed.
We kindly ask that written requests are limited to 1-2 paragraphs. Due to high interest and limited space, not all invitation requests will be able to be accommodated.
Once my invitation is received, how can I register my delegation?
Invited governments and organizations will be asked to provide a delegation coordinator and a list of proposed delegation to the government of Kenya. All individual delegates must also register online using the link provided to invited governments and organizations. Online accreditation of all participants attending the conference will run through 29 May 2026.

What is my allocated delegation size?
Due to limited space and high interest in the Our Ocean Conference, delegation sizes will be limited by entity type:

Can I request to increase my delegation size?
Requests to increase your organization’s allocated delegation size will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Requests can be submitted to ooc11.kenyansecretariat@blueeconomy.go.ke. Please note that all delegation size requests will be handled directly by the government of Kenya, not the OOC Secretariat.
I have additional questions about registration, travel, and other logistics. When will I learn more?
A Protocol and Logistics Guide is forthcoming from the government of Kenya, which will include comprehensive guidance on the registration process, travel and accommodation, transportation, security, venue details, and more. All invited governments and organizations will receive the guide directly.
Delegations will be responsible for securing their own accommodations. The Government of Kenya has developed a list of recommended hotels, included with registration guidance.

Can organizations sponsor the 11th Our Ocean Conference?
Yes. The Government of Kenya welcomes sponsorship from organizations interested in supporting the successful delivery of OOC11.
Sponsorship provides an opportunity to demonstrate leadership in ambitious ocean action in Africa and globally, while contributing to the impact and visibility of the conference.

Commitments
What is an Our Ocean Conference commitment?
Commitments to action are a critical outcome of the Our Ocean Conference (OOC). Every year billions of dollars are mobilized for marine conservation and sustainable ocean action across every sector and region.
OOC commitments are concrete, tangible, voluntary pledges. These can include a diverse range of actions such as financial commitments, policy announcements, conservation projects, education and capacity building, research, monitoring initiatives, and more. Any action that is started, undertaken or completed between April 2025 – June 2026 is eligible for submission as an OOC commitment.
Commitment makers shape and define their own desired activities, targets and outcomes. These are submitted, managed, and reported on using the OOC Online Commitments Platform.
Please submit new commitments and progress updates by 1 May 2026. Submissions received after this date may not be included in the Annual OOC Progress Report but will be included in conference outcomes.
How can I submit a new Our Ocean Conference Commitment?
- Conceptualize your commitment. What ongoing or upcoming actions will you take to promote sustainable oceans? Please reach out to the OOC Secretariat with any questions regarding activities that qualify as an OOC commitment.
- Register or log in to the OOC Online Commitments Platform.
- Click Create Commitment. Complete the commitment form and select Submit.
Note: You can save as a draft to complete the commitment form at a later time.
- Your commitment is now submitted for validation and approval by the Host Government team. It has been assigned the Submitted status.
Note: If your commitment is missing information and needs to be updated, it will be assigned a Change Request status. You will receive an email notification to login, update your commitment and resubmit.
- Once all fields are sufficiently complete, the Host Government will approve your commitment, and you will be notified by email.
- At the conclusion of the conference, all approved commitments will be published. These will be made visible to all users on the OOC Online Commitments Platform and presented in the conference outcome report.
How can I Update or Complete my Existing Commitment?
- Login to the OOC Online Commitments Platform and navigate to your commitment.
- Review the Action dropdown for your commitment:
- Click on the Make Progress Update button OR
- Click on the Complete Commitment button OR
- Click on the Add New Funding button.
- Make your changes on the commitment form and Submit.
- Please Submit all progress updates and reporting before selecting Complete Commitment. The Host Government will approve the final completion. Completed commitments will no longer be editable.
Where can I see Examples of Past Commitments?
All commitments since 2014 are available to view on the online platform by selecting the Commitment Viewer button. Each host government also produces an outcome report of all the new commitments generated each year. In 2025, the Secretariat launched a 10-year progress report including the 2,600+ commitments made since 2014.
